CHRISTMAS CAMP 2025
Christmas Camp 2025
With kids off school, our Christmas Camp is an excellent way for skaters to develop their hockey and team skills both on and off the ice.
With a keen focus on skating and edge work, we develop our skating, passing, shooting, team play, and compete levels, while enjoying the awesome game of hockey.
It's also an excellent opportunity for goalies to work on focused training with one of our highly experienced goalie coaches. Goalies receive goalie-specific training for the first 30-40 minutes of each ice session before being incorporated into various team drills for additional shots and guidance from our goalie coach.
In our dryland sessions, we continue our training by working on shooting, stickhandling, and passing, along with plyometrics, ladder/quick feet drills, and team building activities.
Join us for growth and fun!
Goalies
Overview
Goaltender-specific training - "Goalie Time" - will take place for almost half of each Hockey Time session, (35 - 40 minutes per 75-minute ice time...times are adjusted appropriately for 60 minute sessions). After Goalie Time is finished, goaltenders will take part in shooting drills and small-area games with the rest of the athletes in the program for the second half of the practice. The goalie coach will continue to watch and teach the goalies during these drills.
Philosophy
Goaltender training will be built upon the "Three Rs" principle: Ready, React, Recover. The young athletes will focus on concepts such as stance, positioning, reading plays, save selection, body control, and puck tracking. Everything that is done will be built off of a foundation of strong skating and crease movement - with an emphasis on full-body positioning (being square to the puck, hands in correct position, etc.) and good balance while moving.
What to Expect During Goalie Time
The first 5-10 minutes of each Goalie Time session will focus on goalie-specific skating, using movement drills that came directly from an NHL goalie coach. After that, goalies will face 5-10 minutes of warmup shots, to get their eyes calibrated to tracking pucks. From there, 20-25 minutes of shooting drills will emulate in-game situations/scenarios.
Goalie Mentality
In addition to working on the physical skills of the position, the young athletes will also be taught mental skills to help them succeed as goaltenders, as it's arguably the most mentally-challenging job in sports. Confidence and resilience techniques will be explored, as well as other mental tools - such as visualization and "training by watching".
Ages
8U/Mite participate in the mornings with 10U/Squirts together in the afternoons. We appropriately separate hockey players based on their skill sets as needed, depending on the drill. It is expected that players are not completely new to skating and have some initial experience playing hockey.
All players are required to wear full hockey equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How will the practices be structured?
We will spend 3/4 of our on-ice time focused on skill development and 1/4 of our time scrimmaging, doing battle drills, and/or playing short sided games. Skating/edge work will be a key focus, as we layer on other crucial skills. Having fun will be layered throughout.
Players will be divided appropriately for age/skill.

2025 - 2026 Season
Each day we will spend time honing our skating and edge work, refining our stickhandling and shooting, pushing the limits on our speed and compete, and we'll have a lot of fun along the way.
Goalies will work closely with one of our excellent goalie coaches on goalie-specific training before being incorporated into drills for additional game play and guidance.
We will also spend time in our dryland sessions working on proper shooting form, how to get more power in our shots, stickhandling, passing, plyometrics, speed, and team building.
